TECHNOLOGY

We use 3 specific technologies in the construction of every Energy Efficient Home:
THERMAL LOCK TECHNOLOGY
INSULATED CONCRETE FORMS
CLOSED CELL SPRAY FOAM

ENERGY CONSERVING FEATURES

  • Insulation levels for walls, attic, and basement that are well beyond Construction Code minimums:

    • Effective wall insulation levels from a minimum of R24 to as high as 40
    • Effective Attic insulation levels from R50 to R80
    • Effective basement frost wall insulation levels from R32 to R50
    • Effective R10 to R24 under the basement floor slab.
  • Triple-glazed windows with argon fill and 2 lowE coatings. Enhanced solar co-efficient gain coatings on the south and west facing windows in particular to enhance passive solar opportunites

In the event of power outages, severe storms, your EE home would be liveable for many days after the power goes off. A single gas fireplace or small wood fireplace is enough to keep the house livable for long stretches of the coldest weather.

THERMAL LOCK

Our Thermal Lock Wall is type of SIP (Structural Insulated Panels) that is unique to the industry. We build it onsite, saving tremendous transportation costs (as well as Carbon savings) It is in fact a polystyrene product that has one of the highest R-Values per inch available in insulation.

Insulated Concrete Forms (I.C.F’s)

Our foundations only use an inter-loc polystyrene system that has 2 inches of rigid polystyrene on both sides of an eight inch concrete wall. This insulated concrete foam provides an unbroken R32 foundation wall.

‘The foam insulation is obviously the reason for the consistent and even temperature, and this has been a benefit to us in lower heating bills’
Gord & Maureen
‘The wall system has performed flawlessly. The insulation benefits provide us with consistent, even heat in the winter, and it keeps our home cool in the summer.’
Kolkman

CLOSED CELL
SPRAY FOAM

We only use ICF and rigid polystyrene panels, and ½ lb open cell for spaces not filled with rigid polystyrene.  A building that is insulated and sealed with ICF and rigid polystyrene panels, and ½ lb open cell will use 50% to 80% less energy, reducing fossil fuel usage and decreasing greenhouse gas emissions.
